Protologue is a free, openly licensed reference. These terms cover the website, the downloadable data and the MCP server at mcp.protologue.com.

Licence

The definitions, classification and data files are published under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International licence (CC BY 4.0). You may copy, adapt and redistribute them for any purpose, including commercially, as long as you credit Protologue and link to the entry or to protologue.com. Each entry and each MCP tool result includes a ready-made citation.

Using the MCP server

The MCP server is free to use without an account. Its tools only read the published reference. Please use it reasonably: do not attempt to overload, disrupt or gain unauthorised access to it, and do not use it to break any law. We may rate-limit or block traffic that harms the service for others.

No warranty

Protologue is provided as is. We source every definition from primary literature and correct errors when we find them, but we do not guarantee that the content is complete, current or free of errors, or that the site or server will always be available. Check the cited sources before relying on a definition for an important decision.

Limitation of liability

To the extent the law allows, FranklinPolymathic LLC is not liable for any loss or damage arising from use of the website, the data or the MCP server.

Third-party services

The AI application you use to call the MCP server, and the newsletter provider Beehiiv, have their own terms. How we handle data is described in the privacy policy.
